Who we are

I’m Rene van Diggele, the owner of RVD Building Limited, and I’ve been on quite a journey to get here. My passion for building ignited in my youth, where I found joy in woodwork classes and the satisfaction of creating something tangible. In late 2015, I began my building apprenticeship with a close family friend, diving into a variety of renovation projects across Wellington's eastern suburbs. After the arrival of my daughter, I transitioned into a former associates company as a qualified builder where I spent four years supporting the business through a period of growth.

This hands-on experience not only honed my technical skills but also my leadership skills leading projects and training apprentices while also instilling in me the importance of clear communication and collaboration.

After nine years of learning and growing, I took a leap of faith to establish my own company, driven by a desire to provide my young family with greater opportunities and flexibility. I believe that building is not just about constructing structures; it’s about transforming dreams into reality. At RVD Building Limited, I take pride in being the lead builder on every project, ensuring that my clients have a single point of contact and receive weekly updates throughout the process.

I’ve completed over 25 projects in the past year, specializing in small to medium renovations and alterations, whether consented or not. My clients, like Ben, Anne, and Andrew, have expressed their satisfaction with my pragmatic problem-solving approach and the high-quality finishes I deliver. They appreciate my commitment to communication and the close-knit team I’ve built, which shares my core values of professionalism, approachability, and trust.

When I’m not on-site, you can find me spending quality time with my wife and our two beautiful kids, enjoying dirt-biking with friends, or playing football and rugby. I’m passionate about building not just homes, but lasting relationships with my clients.     I was introduced to RVD Building Ltd by my house painter as a follow-up from a casual conversation about refitting my elderly bathroom.

    The principal of the business Rene van Diggele visited me and heard my fanciful list of requests and then he retired and investigated possibilities, quickly offering me a series of design choices, prices and options that were all definitely possible.  Rene listened to my requests and delivered the design that I asked for.

    His team of skilled workers were all friendly, communicative and hard working [and they tidied up all the mess they made] and they were well supervised by Rene so as to deliver a consistently high-quality end product. 
    They all kept me informed of progress and delivered a nice new bathroom in line with my initial vision in a timely and cost-effective manner.  Rene even came back a bit later and made good some mouldy external timber discovered during the main building process. 
    I would most certainly employ Rene and the team again and can recommend RVD Building Ltd to anyone who wants a good building from a thoughtful, friendly builder.

    I employed Rene van Diggele to renovate my ex-rental property. He and his subcontractors demolished the kitchen and converted it and the separate dining room into one room, demolished a fireplace leaving the wall re-gibbed and plastered so it looked like the fireplace had never been there, and replaced the ensuite shower with a new toilet which required new drains under the house, among many other smaller tasks. I was very impressed with their standard of work and very happy with the final result. All the tradespeople were very easy to communicate with. Rene was very approachable, easy to contact and was always on top of the long list of tasks I gave him. I thoroughly recommend Rene and his team for any building or renovating work you require. It was a pleasure to deal with Rene.
